She's super easy to work with, very talented and full of creativity. Pretty much the perfect mix for a graphic designer.
We put our heads together across the country, exchanged over 100 emails and ended up with a logo, design and stationery package I'm thrilled with.
She is so super thoughtful too. She made me this awesome boxy pouch and sent me my business cards! How sweet was that?!

EL: I see that you are a quilter and a mom. Tell us a little bit about you.
I have four children at home ranging in age from 6 to 16. My girls love to quilt which is so exciting. I would tell you that my 16yr old boy likes to quilt here and there, but he would kill me so I won’t. ;) My husband even gets involved. I attend BYUI part time pursuing a Web Design and Development Degree with design as my emphasis. I quilt and design in my spare time, basically as soon as the kids go to bed and until the wee hours of the morning.
EL: How did you become interested in graphic design?
I originally took an art class because I thought it would help me choose fabrics for my quilts more easily! In the class I got to use Adobe Illustrator and just fell in love! It still takes me forever to pick fabrics for my next quilt but now I know why I choose the colors I do.
EL: What do you enjoy most about design work?
I love the creative process. I love to start with nothing and see the idea come together. I love the endless possibilities and how a design can say so much about a person. One of my favorite things I have learned through the design process is using constraint and knowing when to pull back. With graphic design more often than not….. less is more.
EL: What areas of design do you like to work on the most?
I love anything I can create in Adobe Illustrator. I have been having a lot of fun with business cards and stationery lately. I can use any of the Adobe programs but Adobe Illustrator is my favorite.
EL: What sewing projects do you gravitate towards?
I love modern quilting. I have two favorite quilts….right now. First, is the Supernova I did from the Quilting Modern Book. It was so much fun. My husband and daughter Brittany got involved and we all stayed up until 3 am one morning laughing and putting it up on the design wall. The other one is the scrappy log cabin I did with you for the Scrappy-Stash-Along. I used scraps going back to my first quilt, which was a log cabin. The kids will walk by it and point out fabrics they remember or they have in their quilts. Out of all the quilts I have made those two are the only ones I kept for myself. I usually give mine away.
EL: Who inspires you and where do you draw inspiration?
I draw inspiration from everything around me. I love color! I see quilts or designs everywhere. I get inspired outside, in magazines, blogs, Flickr, Pinterest, Facebook, my kid's school work. I even saw a tissue box the other day I had to take a picture of.
There are so many bloggers that inspire me. So much talent out there! You’ll have to visit my blog to see some of my favorite bloggers. ;)
EL: What are your business goals for 2013?
My business goals for this year are to have fun and meet new people!
EL: Are you taking new clients? Where can we find out more about you and your designs?
I am taking new clients here and there. You can always contact me to see how busy I am at the time. I love working with people so I usually find time.
Finding out more about my designs…umm…that would require me to keep up on my blog. LOL. I am getting close to launching my new website where I will have a collection of recent work. I LOVE working for other people but blogging for myself is one of my weaknesses. I am getting better, I think..
